Di tahun 1979 ketika pulang dari dari suatu kunjungan ke Jakarta, Bapak Arnold Muti membeli 50 botol anggrek bulan (Phalaenopsis) sebagai oleh-oleh untuk Ibu Maria Sylvia Nurdiani atau yang lebih dikenal sebagai Ibu Arnold. Dengan tanpa bekal pengetahuan khusus di bidang tanaman anggrek, Ibu Arnold mulai mengeluarkan bibit-bibit tersebut dan memeliharanya dengan tekun. Dua tahun kemudian, bibit-bibit tersebut sudah menjadi besar dan mulai berbunga. Meskipun demikian, belum ada niatan beliau unuk menjualnya. Baru kemudian pada tahun 1981, lewat anjuran seorang teman yang juga pecinta anggrek, kegiatan usaha FLORA BALI secara komersial dimulai. Saat ini FLORA BALI telah berkembang dalam usahanya memenuhi permintaan pasar, yang secara umum produknya dapat dapat dikelompokkan menjadi: Produk Anggrek, mulai dari bibit dalam botol, seedling, tanamna remaja, maupun tanaman berbunga. Produk Floral, yang meliputi bunga potong, daun segar, serta sarana floral lainnya yang menunjang kegiatan para perangkai bunga. Produk Tanaman, baik indoor maupun outdoor plant. Produk Buah Segar, yang merupakan hasil budidaya secara organik. Produk Obat-obatan, mulai dari pupuk, hormon, insektisida, fungisisda, dan obat-obatan lain, yang diperlukan oleh para penggemar anggrek sebagai sarana pemeliharaan .tanaman kesayangan mereka. Produks Prasarana, meliputi media tanam, pot, rak dan tray, buku-buku, prasarana  pemeliharaan.
